A discectomy is performed to relieve tension in a herniated disc (also called a slippery, cracked, or protruding plate or plate prolapse). A herniated disc occurs when part of a soft tissue inside a circle protrudes out through a solid outer break. Discectomy is a careful removal of part or all of a herniated vertebral circle. The plate is removed by first cutting the outer annulus fibrosis and removing the core pulposus to relieve tension in the nerve roots. An analysis is then performed to eliminate the muscle that runs from the front to the spinal cord and to eliminate any bone marrow or circular objects deep in the vein.
